 Little Eagle Child Care Center

Providing Exceptional Care Since 1990 :

Little Eagle Child Care Center in Kearneysville, WV, has provided expert child care to Jefferson County and Berkeley County families since 1990. We are a non-profit center that serves the children of federal agency employees and the general public. At Little Eagle Child Care Center, children come first. We have designed our center to be child-friendly, allowing for many toys, games, and educational and physical activities to keep children engaged during their care.

As a child care center accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Little Eagle has demonstrated through a rigorous and transformative quality-improvement system that we are a high-quality program that provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting healthy development for young children. We have demonstrated our commitment to quality by meeting the 10 NAEYC Early Learning Program Standards, research-based best practices for young children’s development and learning. Every year we submit annual reports documenting that we consistently meet the NAEYC program standards.

Dental Health Care is a vital part of good hygiene and healthy habits. Tooth brushing is a part of our daily schedule in all classrooms. The center provides toothbrushes that are age-appropriate and changed out every 3 months. Parents are asked to provide their child with their preferred toothpaste.

At Little Eagle, we know that a child’s family is an integral part of their educational experience. We offer several different ways that families can participate with their child here at the center. Throughout the year we have holiday celebrations, field trips, special classroom projects, book fairs, and other opportunities for family members to attend with their child. We also have a Parent Involvement Committee composed of parents from each classroom. This committee meets at least once a quarter to plan special events for staff and families at the center.

Gross motor play is an essential part of healthy development for children of all ages. At LECCC a minimum of 60 minutes per day of gross motor activity is planned and incorporated into our daily schedules for each classroom. Weather permitting, our gross motor activities occur outside on our playground where children have opportunities to run, climb, ride on toys, and play games. We use the following apps to help us determine if weather/environmental conditions are safe for outdoor play: Heat Index by OSHA and AirNow and Daily UVA Index by the EPA. Sunscreen is applied during the summer months anytime children are outside longer than 15 minutes at a time. Parents are asked to bring their preferred sunscreen for their child.

  • Little Eagle Child Care provides opportunities for all classrooms to participate in special events such as community visitors, guest readers, and book fairs.
  • Busy Town, Sesame Street, Snoopy’s World, and PreK Classes also take field trips to places in the surrounding areas to enhance their learning. Past field trips have been to the pumpkin patch, open gym, science museum, and picnics at local parks.
Please contact our office at 304-264-7132 to find out about our current registration and tuition fees. We also participate in various subsidy programs.
